abyssopelagic zone

/əˌbɪsoʊpəˈlædʒɪk zoʊn/ (say uh.bisohpuh'lajik zohn)

the deepest part of the ocean where the water is near freezing, there is no sunlight at all, and the pressure is crushing. Compare bathypelagic zone, epipelagic zone, hadopelagic zone, mesopelagic zone.
